The Data Privacy and Security Committee focuses on the quickly developing legal issues affecting businesses concerning data that businesses possess concerning residents of the State of Texas. Specifically, the committee serves as a resource to the State Bar and the Business Law Section on the duty to safeguard data on Texas residents and the consequences concerning failure to meet this duty resulting in a breach of a resident’s private information. Importantly, this Committee does not address the issues relating to a personal right of privacy discussed in Roe v. Wade and it progeny.
