The E-Commerce Committee monitors developments and issues relating to e-commerce, with particular attention to Texas specific issues. Such issues include proposed and new state and federal legislation (i.e. UCITA, UETA, E-Signatures), Privacy, Internet Taxes, and recent E-Commerce cases.

Spammer Fined $236 Million
- The spammers, a husband and wife team, used a spam program "Bulk Mailing 4 Dummies" and pretty much brought a small ISP to its knees. The story ends by saying that the ISP won’t be able to collect.

Court Awards Damages Because Defendant's Website Not Accessible by the Blind
- This was a class action case in the United States between a major online retailer and the National Federation of the Blind in which the major retailer settled for an amount thought to be up to $6m because its website was too difficult to use with screen-reader software, which converts content to speech, allowing the blind use the Internet.

Facebook wins $873M judgment against spammer
- Facebook has won a $873 million judgment against a Canadian man who bombarded users with millions of unsolicited messages about drugs and sex.
