Amendment of Section Bylaws
At the annual meeting of the Business Law Section of the State Bar in Austin on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 4:45 p.m., the members of the Section will be asked to approve the revisions to the Section’s Bylaws reflected in the clean and marked copies of the Bylaws. The proposed changes, which were approved by the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas at its regularly scheduled meeting held in January 2006 relate primarily to (1) providing for a new officer position of Chair-Elect and giving the Business Law Section Council broader authority to create new officer positions in the future, (2) clarifying the role of the ex officio members of the Council, (3) adding provisions stating that no legislative position or social or political policy position shall be taken in the name of the Business Law Section without the approval of the Section’s Council and compliance with the State Bar Policy Manual, and (4) eliminating gender specific terminology in the Bylaws.
